About Big Island Apothecary
Our Journey Toward Cleaner, More Natural Living
Big Island Apothecary began with a simple realization.
After years of working long hours in the corporate tech world, we found ourselves feeling disconnected from the things that mattered most: real food, clean water, healthy soil, and simple daily products we could truly trust. Like many people, we started paying closer attention to the ingredients in everyday items, what we were eating, drinking, and putting on our skin.
What we discovered was unsettling. So many products on the market, even the ones labeled as “natural,” still contained ingredients we didn’t feel comfortable using every day. We wanted something different, something cleaner, simpler, and closer to nature.
So we started in our own kitchen.
Using plant-based butters, oils, botanicals, minerals, and other carefully chosen natural ingredients, we began creating our own personal care products by hand. At first, it was just for us and our family. But as we refined each recipe, we realized these products were not only clean and simple, they were truly effective, nourishing, and beautiful to use.
That is when Big Island Apothecary was born.

Our name Big Island Apothecary comes from our deep love for the Big Island of Hawaiʻi and our dream of building a life rooted in the land, growing our own food, caring for the soil, and creating a farm filled with fruit trees, medicinal plants, and abundance. The Big Island represents everything we believe in: nature, simplicity, healing, community, and a slower, more intentional way of living.
Big Island Apothecary is our way of bringing that vision to others. Every product is inspired by the belief that what we put on our skin should be as clean and thoughtfully made as the food we grow and eat. We create small-batch products using simple, natural ingredients with a focus on purity, comfort, and everyday wellness.
What began as a quiet kitchen experiment has become a mission: to offer clean, honest, nature-inspired products that help people feel good about what they use on their bodies and bring a little piece of island living into their daily rituals.
